Includes letter to previous owner [an academic] signed 'Bruce'. 352 pages Macquarie University belongs to the great expansion of higher education in the 1960's. The imposition of quotas at the University of Sydney help prompt its formation, but it also represented fresh ideas [drawn from both American and British experience] about university teaching and organisation. The authors have produced a scholarly but readable history that make clear its pioneering role in Australian higher education - the call it "an act of faith and a great experiment".
