Illustrated with b/w photographs, maps and drawings. 390 pages Volume 2 of a two part series on the British-designed Fairmile ships that used by the RAN during WW2. They were employed as a fast craft for convoy escorts, patrolling and other duties. This volume covers the New Guinea and island operations of Fairmiles and HDMLs through to wars end. They had various duties including dropping and recovering Z Special Units, hunting enemy submarines, strafing Japanese coastal facilities and one crew even shot down a Zero!
