Octavo Size [approx 15.5 x 22.8cm]. Very good condition in original wrappers. Tiny chip to lower front edge. There are a number of black and white illustrations and coloured plates unrelated to Kempe's paper. 54 pages [article only] The Rev Kempe was a missionary attached to the Hermmansburg Mission. In this paper was presented to the Society on December 2, 1890. It dealt with the vocabulary of the tribe inhabiting the River Finke, but he also indicated that it 'is also, with only slight variations in dialect, that of the tribes in the MacDonnell Ranges eastward to Alice Springs, but not far westward of the River Finke, and extending southward to the Peake.' In addition there are several articles of natural history interest.
