Children of the Desert. The Western Tribes of Central Australia Volume 1

Octavo Size [approx 15.5 x 22.8cm]. Very Good copy in Very Good dustjacket. Dustjacket is now protected in a purpose-made plastic sleeve. A nice copy. 262 pages Geza Roheim was the first psychoanalyst to test widely held psychoanalytic concepts against his own original anthropological fieldwork. Roheim's interpretations still have an immediacy, a richness and a freshness that is lacking in most other works of this kind. The research reflects a native culture that is relatively more untouched than that found by subsequent researchers and Roheim describes a culture still rich in its original symbolism and fantasy life.
