12mo [approx 12.7x18.7cm]. Very Good condition. Half-leather with marbled boards, raised bands and leather title patches. Rubbing to leather and boards. The spine ends on several volumes are mildly frayed. Most volumes have uniform patch of discolouration to upper and lower corners of front free endpapers corresponding to the leather border on the front pastedowns. The paper at the hinges of Vol III and V is cracking but the binding is very solid on all volumes. Bookseller label to front pastedowns. Preface is dated 1857. In 1832 J. M Wilson, the editor of the Berwick Advertiser began publishing local stories, mostly founded on actual events and stories. The first collection was published in 1834 amd continued to appear for five years after his death in 1835. Alexander Leighton was one of the original editors and contributors.
